Fire Prevention Week Open House

Fire Prevention Week Open House at Martha Lake Fire Station 21
16819 13th Ave. W, Lynnwood, WA 98037
Saturday, October 5th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This free event includes activities for all ages:
• Meet your firefighters.
• Learn about fire safety.
• See a fire engine up close and spray water from a fire hose.
• Learn how to use a fire extinguisher.
• Learn hands only CPR.

Activities will focus on this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme: “Smoke alarms: Make them work
for you!™.” Working smoke alarms can make a life-saving difference in a home fire, giving
people the time to get out safely.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), smoke alarms reduce the risk of
dying in a home fire by more than half (54 percent).

Here’s how to keep your family safer:
• Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old.
• Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button. Make sure everyone
knows the sound of the alarm.
• Install smoke alarms inside every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area,
and on every level of your home. Smoke alarms should be interconnected so when one
sounds, they all sound.
• Create a home fire escape plan with your family that includes two ways out of every room
and an outside meeting place. Practice your escape plan at least twice a year with
everyone in your household, including guests.

Parking: Station parking is limited. Additional parking is available next door at Christ the Rock Fellowship, 16707 13th AVE W, Lynnwood.
Donation Drive! As able, please bring children's hat and gloves to benefit Kids in Transition, a local organization providing basic needs to homeless children in our area.
